The Startup Science platform just shipped its largest update of 2026. This release adds 17 AI-powered business tools for founders, a full Help Center for every user, significant program management upgrades for ESOs, and a new engagement system that lets you rate, save, and organize content across the platform.

Below, we break down what matters most for founders and for the organizations that support them. See the full release notes here.

What Founders Need to Know

17 AI-Powered Business Tools

The new Tools section gives you a suite of 17 simulators to model finances, plan fundraising, assess readiness, map your competition, and manage operations. Each tool saves data to your startup profile, calculates results in real time, and uses AI to generate personalized insights.

The tools span five categories:

Finance: Cap Table Simulator, Unit Economics Studio, Runway and Burn Scenario Planner, Exit Waterfall Simulator.

Strategy: Business Model Canvas, TAM/SAM/SOM Builder, Competitive Positioning Map.

Operations: Hiring Plan Cost Simulator, Sales Pipeline Health, Onboarding Funnel Analyzer, Pricing and Packaging Lab.

Fundraising: Exit Readiness Score, Investor Targeting Builder, Fundraising Round Planner.

Governance: Board Update Builder, Data Room Generator, Legal Readiness Checklist.

Every tool supports both manual data entry and AI-assisted generation. Start with AI suggestions, then refine the numbers yourself. Multiple tools support PDF and CSV export so you can share results with your team, advisors, or investors.

Eleven tools are live now. Six more (Onboarding Funnel, Pipeline Health, Board Update, Pricing Lab, Data Room, and Investor Targeting) are fully built and coming soon.

Rate, Save, and Organize Everything You Use

A new engagement system lets you interact with content across the entire platform. You can rate items on a five-star scale, like content you find valuable, and bookmark items to revisit later. A new "Saved" tab on your My Stuff page brings all of this together in one place, with filters by type, rating level, and sort order.

This covers courses, tools, programs, events, forums, marketplace offers, and more. Think of it as your personal library inside Startup Science.

Stronger Signup Security

Automated bot registrations were creating spam accounts on the platform. We added Cloudflare Turnstile verification to the signup flow. It is invisible to most users and blocks automated signups without adding friction to your experience.

What ESOs Need to Know

Built-In Help Center

Every feature in Startup Science now has step-by-step documentation accessible from inside the platform. The Help Center replaces the old external support link with a searchable, categorized resource organized into 20 categories that mirror the platform navigation.

Key details for portal administrators:

  • Contextual help icons appear next to page titles across 25 feature pages. Click any icon to jump directly to the relevant article.
  • Full-text search returns results as you type. No need to press Enter.
  • Cross-referenced articles link related topics together, so users discover documentation organically.
  • No access restrictions. Every authenticated user can access the Help Center regardless of role or subscription level.

This should reduce support burden immediately. When a program participant asks how something works, you can point them to the Help Center instead of writing a custom explanation.

Program Management Upgrades

Several targeted improvements to the Programs module:

Program archiving. Archive programs that are no longer active. Archived programs disappear from all standard views (listings, landing pages, My Events, My Evaluations) but remain accessible to administrators through a dedicated filter. This keeps your active program list clean without losing historical data.

Conflict-of-interest certification. Evaluators must now certify they have no conflict of interest before submitting an evaluation. The certification checkbox appears at the top of the evaluation form, and the certification is recorded for audit purposes.

Form section reordering. Drag and drop entire sections in the form builder to reorder them. Drag handles appear on each section header and lock automatically when applications have been submitted.

Member Management Improvements

Resend invite. Re-send invite emails to members whose password tokens have expired. No more removing and re-adding users.

72-hour password tokens. Password set and reset tokens now last 72 hours instead of 24, giving bulk-uploaded users more time to activate.

Pagination controls. Display 25, 50, or 100 members per page in the Members table for faster bulk operations.

Accurate last login tracking. The Last Connection timestamp now updates on login, logout, password reset, and OAuth login.

Upgraded Rich Text Editor

We replaced CKEditor with Tiptap across all editing surfaces. The new editor is lighter, more extensible, and provides the same formatting capabilities. Existing content renders correctly. The Ping chat composer also benefits, with improved bold, italic, strikethrough, code, link formatting, and better mention autocomplete.

Content Engagement Analytics

The new ratings, likes, and bookmarks system applies to your portal too. While all users can rate and save content, Super Admins can query aggregate engagement metrics via the API to see top-rated, most-liked, and most-bookmarked items. A frontend analytics dashboard is planned for a future release.

Academy and Marketplace Fixes

Natural sort order for courses and collections. "Course 2" now correctly sorts before "Course 10."

Redemption instructions for marketplace offers now display properly on offer detail pages, modals, and post-redemption views.

Optional READ content in course creation. Courses can be created without read content, and bulk upload CSVs can omit the Read Body column.

As a reminder, full release notes are here.
